Suveen Kumar

[edit]

Dr. Suveen Kumar is an Indian scientist working on biosensors and non-invasive medical devices. He is an assistant professor in Department of Medical Devices at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research-Ahmedabad (Gujarat, India).[1] He specializes in the field of biosensors and electrochemistry where he is exploring various diseases like cardiovascular, oral cancer and liver cancer and metal stress determinants. The detection platforms used for fabrication of biosensors are based on nanomaterials, both carbonaceous as well as non-carbonaceous. [2][3]

Biography

[edit]

Dr. Suveen Kumar obtained his Ph.D. degree (2017) from Department of Biotechnology, Delhi Technological University, Delhi, India.[4] He did his M.Tech. in Nanoscience and Technology (2011) and M.Sc. in Biotechnology (2009) from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, Haryana, India. Befire this, he did his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics from Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya, Bihar, India.

He served more than five years as faculty at Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi, Delhi, India[5] and one year Postdoctoral research associate at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Ulsan, Republic of Korea.[6] Till date he has successfully guided two Ph.D. and more than 15 MS students. Currently in his research group, more than 12 students are working to explore and fabricate Biosensing devices for various disease diagnosis.[7] He has published more than 42 research/review articles with more than 2052 citations, h-index: 20, i10-index: 27.[3]

Fields of research

[edit]

Kumar's research focuses on fabrication of electrochemical biosensors for point-of-care diagnostics, mainly on oral, liver and lung cancer biomarkers such as cytokeratin-19 (CYFRA-21-1), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), Annexin A2 (ANXA-2), CKAP4 etc. Along with this, his work is also on to develop electrochemical biosesnors for cardiovascular disease monitoring, as well as to diagnosis of disease related to airborne virus specially H1N1.

To explore the applications of material science in the fabrication of biosensors, Kumar's group has synthesized several nanomaterials like metal oxides (magnesium oxide, hafnia, yttria, zirconia), metal chalogenides (molybednum diselenide, molybednum disulfide), carbon allotropes (grahitic carbon nitride, hydrogen substituted graphdiyne, porous carbon, reduded graphene oxide). His group also explored the nanocomosite of the above stated materials.
