Biography

Early life

Vladi Păunescu was born in Constanţa, Romania, sole child of economists Cornel Păunescu and Laura Păunescu (née Kesler) from Buzău and Constanţa, respectively. His maternal grandfather was of German ancestry, being a descendant of the Banat Swabians. Vladi spent his first years in Constanţa and moved to Buzău in 1988, due to parents' work duties. He also began education there, three years later.

He graduated high school at Colegiul Naţional Mihai Eminescu Buzău with notable results in Mathematics, Computer Science and foreign languages. Also a playwright for the high school's performing crew, Vladi developed interest in visual and performing arts, as well as for visual crafts, graphic design and web design.

Early Career

[edit]

At the age of 19, Vladi moved to Bucharest to attend the Academia de Studii Economice, at the faculty of International Business and Economics, where he focused more on his studies rather than on an early professional career. After graduation, he entered a master's degree in Advertising at the Şcoala Naţională de Studii Politice şi Administrative.

Following a job in IT, Vladi concentrated on attending several contests for junior creatives, featuring 2nd place at Atelierele ADfel 2008 and 3rd at Şcoala ADC 2009. [1][2][3]

Advertising

[edit]

In 2009, following Şcoala ADC and a short internship at McCann Erickson, Vladi was hired as junior copywriter by Violet Advertising, with work on the UNICEF, Dole, Real and eMAG accounts. One year later, he moved to Friends Advertising, with Silva, Unilever, Philip Morris, Public Services International, Sibex and European Drinks among clients. At Friends, he met three year-long art director team mate Adrian Ioţa, with whom he won a Design Angel at AdPrint Festival and a Bronze ADC*RO Award for OOH, along with some other smaller prizes.

In 2014, as Vladi moved to Publicis, working on Carrefour and Visa, Friends had merged with TBWA. So one year later, Vladi moved to the revamped Friends \ TBWA, with main work on the McDonald's account.
