The first season of the animated television series Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends began airing in the United States on the cable network Cartoon Network on August 13, 2004 and concluded on October 22, 2004. The series was created by animator Craig McCracken, who directed several first season episodes. Writers for the season included McCracken, Lauren Faust, and Craig Lewis.
The 90-minute premiere of the pilot episode, "House of Bloo's," achieved record-breaking Nielsen Ratings, being watched 1,154,000 viewers aged 6 to 11, and over a five-weekend period received a total of 11,382,000 viewers under all demographics. The season was critically applauded by multiple critics and received an assortment of accolades, including three Emmy Awards and four Annie Award nominations.
The season was released throughout multiple home media productions. The full DVD boxset was officially made for retail on March 6, 2007, containing all 13 episodes and a plethora of bonus features.
