Suniram Engti kathar is an Indian karate player. He is black belt 3rd Dan rank holder He is presently appointed as Chief Karate Instructor of Japan Karate-Do Hakuakai Organisation-NorthEast India.He is well trained professionals karate fighter. At very young age within short period of time he played many international events.

Early life and family: He was born on 1st January 1994 in Umrongso a small beautiful town ,Assam Northeast India.He belong from poor family background. he is the elder Son of Shri Jongdang Engti and Smt. Kajir Rongpipi he has three siblings 2 young brother and one younger sister. His family depends on cultivation.Mostly engaged on Shifting cultivation.He belong from Karbi Community (mikir/Karbi tribe).He is the grandson of Shri Sarpo Rongpi.He loves and cares his grandfather Shri Sarpo Rongpi(his mom dad),from childhood he stay with his grandfather as his mother is the only daughter. He said his grandfather is the most important part in his life, what ever he wants his grandfather is always stands for him.He said he is very lucky to have such a Loving and caring Great Grandfather he have. He completed his Higher Secondary education from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Neepco Umrongso Dima Hasao (Assam).Suniram is very good in other sports also during his school days he won many medals specially in Athletics,Kho-kho,Kabaddi, Basketball,batmanton, Volleyball and Football.He also participated and his team got runner up position in Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) Northeast India cluster Zone football Tournament which was held in Guwahati at S.A.I (Sports Authority of India) ground in 2014.After passed out class 12 examination He went to Guwahati in 2016 to pursuing higher education and admitted to Pragjyotish college.

Karate Journey:At the age of 15 Suniram enrolled for karate training when he was studying in eight standard and started his first grass roots training with Master Sensei Sanjay Kumar Das he has completed green belt from his Master.After a years of training he got selected to play for All India Open karate Championships which was held at Neheru Church garden Stadium,Tezpur Assam in 2012 and won brown medal in the weight category of -50 kg.But after two years of karate training his master shift to another place because of that there was a gap in training.But he didn't lose hope and continue his training by himself for a few years.And after went out to Guwahati to pursue his Higher studies along with study,he Again enrolled for karate training on 8th November 2017 and continue his karate training in evening shift every day with Karate Instructor Sensei Samir Das.

On 29 April 2019 he got brown medal for India in -60kg weight category in South Asian Karate Championships which was on Talkotara Stadium,New Delhi. And select for World Karate championships Tokyo Japan. He got Best Discipline award in kumete (fighting) in that championship. And again after back to his training he again selected for International karate championships which was held in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia on 5-10 Oct 2019.In that championship he won Gold medal for India.He still training under his coach. Now he has open karate center in North East region.He said "he want to train the Hiden talents specially in rural areas where because of their financially poor they can't go higher in sports and to them he will provide proper facilities so that they can go and play for Country".
