J/Boats introduces its largest sailboat yet, the J/44 racing and cruising sailboat (pictured above and below). In the same year of its introduction, the J/44 wins the New York Yacht Club Queen's Cup. The J/44 also places in the Chicago-Mackinac yacht race. Later in the year, the J/44 became Sailing World's Overall Boat-of-the-Year.
