Life and career

Completed the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, Department for Sculpture in Architecture and Public Space in the class of professor Miodrag Živković. She is a member of ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia) and UNS (Journalists’ Association of Serbia).

Dara Fanka, a multimedia artist (in many artistic fields separately), is the laureate of many awards and honours. With her continuous composite work in the field of sculpturing, painting, interior design, graphic design and journalism, she earned a prestigious status of a prominent artist.

From a special competition document from her curriculum vitae, we hereby put forward 27 standalone exhibitions /written by renowned critics N. Kusovac, Dj. Kadijević, S. Vuković, B. LJubišić…/ In particular, we point out the First Award for the United Nations Sculpture in 1974, ULUS’s Monumental Sculpture Award in 1982, many words of thanks and agile memberships /Serbian-Jewish society Braća Baruh, National Geographic, Mokranjac Days/, prestigious manifestations “Golden Feather”, Drawing Biennial, Watercolour Biennial, many art colonies throughout ex-YU /St. Stefan organized by the Museum of the City of Belgrade, Danilovgrad, Prilep, the Danube Art Colony Sremski Karlovci/ cultural exchange between museums from twin towns Zrenjanin-Bekescaba /Hungary/.

During the bombing of Belgrade in 1999, she was working in the open ULUS’s studio. The exhibition of these pieces of artwork called “Paintings against Bombs” took place in pavilion Cvijeta Zuzorić and was transported to 14 towns in Germany, Pittsburgh /USA/ and New York. Since 1988, Dara Fanka is a permanent correspondent and art associate of a magazine for cultivating homeland culture Zavičajac from Zrenjanin, as well as for magazines Vojska (Army), Dodir (Touch), ASK Motorspor. From 2012 she participate in the professional team of architect Ksenija Bulatović on the experimental project Symbiosis: Symbiotic architecture that has been presented at numerous international conferences and exhibitions, in 2016 she writes expert analysis of the "Belgrade newspapers" - a magazine for urban culture that has issued the Centre for Social Research.

As a member of a choir, this versatile artist with music education - Dara Fanka took part in a tour around USA in 1978, on a concert in Carnegie Hall as well as in other 30 concerts in USA, where the choir performed with Breda Kalef the primadonna of the opera in Belgrade, and Andrej Preger, the professor at the Faculty of Music Art. The choir also participated in filming a documentary about Jews who survived the horrors of Nazi occupation and World War 2. Because of its great success, the choir recorded an LP record and later a disc in RTS production. Choir Braća Baruh was awarded twice by the state for its contribution to the cultural affirmation of the state.
