[edit]About me
[edit]I'm a college student, a lover of hiking, folk music, and co-ops, and your typical PNW dog owner. One of my favorite hikes, located in the glorious Mount Rainier National Park, which I completed a few times last summer, Naches Peak Loop Trail, is home to lots of wildlife and wildflowers, including Indian Paintbrush. The Indian Paintbrush is a hemiparasite, which means they have the ability to isolate nutrients from other organisms.[1] Some folk bands I love include more well-known groups like The Lumineers, and lesser-know bands like Kuinka and Birdtalker.
My Wikipedia interests
[edit]If I were to write more on Wikipedia, I would love to research and write more about native plants and trees. I would also love to give some lesser-known, local bands more recognition.
Article Evaluation
[edit]I discovered Katie Pruitt and her music a year ago and fell in love with her songs immediately. Her writing is so vulnerable and relatable for me. Finding her music helped me accept my sexuality and what that looked like in my life. She writes about growing up religious and how difficult that can be when you are queer. I visited the Katie Pruitt article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the neutrality of the article, the under/over-represented points, and how up-to-date the article is.
The article remains neutral throughout. The article has well-stated facts and information that is informative and descriptive while at the same time not adding any unnecessary information. The facts that were included (childhood, education, music career, etc.) remained to-the-point. The article doesn't praise or bash her. The voice of the article was appropriately neutral.
The citations for the article were up-to-date and reliable. The sources came from a variety of sites about music, including articles and interviews from NPR and The Rolling Stone. Upon clicking the links, the articles were still there. I read a few of the articles and they provided information that I know to be true about her.
For the most part, the points in the article were well-represented. I think more information about her childhood and early music career would've added more depth to the article. The points were balanced in the article, and the appropriate amount of time was spent on each point.
The article was well written, and considering that Katie Pruitt is a small, relatively unknown artist, the article covered all the points you would expect. This article was a good example of a small Wikipedia article; the necessary points were covered and there were citations for every point covered. There was no bias throughout, and no extra or vague sentences.
