About me

[edit]

In the real world, I go by the name Rafael Sevilla, but most of my friends just call me Dido. That's Dee-Doh, not Day-doh, and it has absolutely nothing to do with this Dido or that Dido or any other (and by the way, I'm a guy, in case you didn't notice). It has to do with the name our local weather services gave to a typhoon that struck Manila on the day I was born, "Didang", someone said that it should be my nickname and it stuck all these years. That's also incidentally why I use the handle Stormwyrm, well, you people know what a Wyrm is given that 1976 was the Year of the Dragon. 蛟龍 supposedly means 'rain dragon' according to Jim Breen's EDICT, which I stumbled upon while studying Japanese, and it is, well, appropriate... I'll also occasionally be seen on IRC using the nick Bonta-kun, from one of my favorite anime Full Metal Panic!

I'm currently working for a small company that does GNU/Linux software development and system integration, mostly outsourcing work, and part of the time, I'm also a graduate computer science student at the University of the Philippines.

What am I doing at Wikipedia?

[edit]

I don't know really, but probably I'll wind up writing about some or all of these things at one time or another:

  • Computers and computing
  • Mathematics (analysis, logic, and discrete math predominantly)
  • Physics (I'm trying but not quite succeeding in getting my head around quantum field theory)
  • Anime
  • Some of my favorite video games like Ultima and the like

Well that's all I can say for now. I'm new here. Wish me luck.
