[edit]Stones are an integral part of our lives. In times past medieval man used stone to fell trees, build tombs, kill animals and he spent many hours honing his weapons. As time went on....... more sophisticated methods were used for farming and building and slaughtering animals.

However the Irish Landscape has ample evidence of the past, with Court Tombs and Dolmens for example where the assemblages of stones are still in view. Where these artefacts have been lost is often due to intensive farming where land has been cleared for better grazing. With the onset of Christianity many of these were adapted, for example Dolmens were used as Mass Rocks in Penal Times. A farmer in Achaill has recently recreate a Stone Circle similar to Stonehenge which is now a new tourist attraction..
