Career
[edit]Moss learned to play the guitar when he was 13 years old. In 1989, he established a band with a couple of his friends from school, including Derek Bradley on drums and Paul Jones, who played bass guitar. The band, known as Near Dark, wrote their own songs and performed in local concerts in pubs and town halls throughout Trim. They disbanded in 1991, after which, Moss moved to Dublin.
In 1994, in Dublin, Moss released a four-song EP, titled Sally Forth, which was recorded at Pulse Studios and released on the independent label TEL Records, based in County Meath. On 2 June 1994, work entered the Irish Albums Chart, where it remained for one week at No. 18. In 1995, he released his first full-length solo album, Tempus Fugit, on TEL Records. On 29 June 1995, his single "Delilah" from the album entered the Irish Singles Chart, where it remained for five weeks, peaking at No. 11.[1][2] The album received regular airplay on radio stations throughout Ireland and on MTV Europe.
In addition to his work as a solo artist, Moss has also been a member of the band Stoneloader, which included Moss on lead vocals, Andrew Byrne on bass guitar, Ro Tierney on keyboards, and Paul Daly on drums. His work with the three-piece band Axis, performed in local concerts around Cyprus and included Moss on vocals and lead guitar, John Artes playing bass guitar, and Barry Stanbury playing drums. He formed the Flaming Sambuka Brothers, also known as Sambooka, with Jason O'Sullivan. They performed from 2004–2006 in and around the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.[3]
