About me

[edit]

My hobbies include running, painting, baking, helping out at my church, and spending time with my family. I am a part of the cross country, and track team at my school, a cross country races tend to always be 3.1 miles[1]. My favorite events include the 400, the 4x4, and the 800. I enjoy playing sports such as soccer and volleyball, and I am very competitive. I am also a running start student, and I attend high school.  I like being creative, painting helps me be more creative because I can paint whatever I want, and I can use any colors I want, and if I'm being honest I'm not the most artistic person, therefore my paintings don't always turn out great, but that's alright. My church community is like my second family. I try to spend my time getting to know everyone and helping out on Sundays. If I had to describe myself to somebody I would say I'm kind, funny, and sometimes quiet.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

If I'm active on Wikipedia in the future, I'll probably be reading about things that I want to learn more about. I would research instruments I would like to learn how to play. For example, the piano, or the tuba, or maybe even the drums! I would probably also create a page or add to a page that's about something I'm passionate about, perhaps running or baking. I would also just be looking and trying to explore all the things I can do on Wikipedia since I have never used it before there seem to be lots of things that can help me use Wikipedia better or more efficiently.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

Whether the bread comes out brunt or perfectly golden, baking has always been a fun thing to do with my family. One of my favorite things to bake with my family is baguettes. I have recently been trying baguettes from different bakeries and I also learned there are different kinds of baguettes. That got me thinking I don't know much about one of my favorite loaves of bread, that's when I visited the baguette article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: citation links, the lack of baking process, and the under-representation of consumption.

Citations

[edit]

The article as a whole has many citations, although multiple citations are repeated throughout the article. There is one citation that is labeled as "citation needed", I clicked on the link and it lead to a "no citation" page on Wikipedia. Even though it was just one citation it messes with the overall completeness, organized article many look for when looking on Wikipedia.

Lack of information

[edit]

It came to my attention that the article does not cover the baking process of a baguette. This was actually shocking because I would have thought that it would state at least a time or an oven temperature. I think that this information could easily be added to the article and would not only make the article more complete but it would also make the article more informative.

Under-representation

[edit]

The article has a consumption section at the very end, looking at it you can see that there are only two countries stated on there. The consumption section of the article is under-represented and could have more information. The section could include other countries or it could simply expand the consumption rate and add the number of baguettes consumed in a second, a month, a year, and even the amount of baguettes produced in the world.

Conclusion

[edit]

All in all the article is pretty good, yet it's missing a couple of things that can help it reach the potential that it has. For starters, all the citations need to lead to sources in order to have the article be as reliable as possible. The article should also add information about the baking of a baguette since it is a major factor in the making process of a baguette. Under the section "consumption" there is room for much more information than the one provided. Making the little fixes will not just make the article better but it will be more informative for others who read it.
