Neolithic
[edit]- The history of Armenia begins with Neolithic cultures of the South Caucasus, such as the Shulaveri-Shomu culture
- Bronze Age Kura-Araxes and Trialeti cultures.
- Iron Age kingdom of Urartu lasted from the 9th century to 585 BC
- replaced by the Orontid dynasty
- Following Persian and Macedonian rule
- the Artaxiad dynasty from 190 BC
- gave rise to the Kingdom of Armenia
- peak of its influence under Tigranes II
- falling under Roman rule.
- In 301, Arsacid Armenia was the first sovereign nation to accept Christianity as a state religion.
