Gimme
[edit]- It’s a three and a half-minute song stretched to just over five for no other reason than indulgence.[7]
- shuffling disco-funk (“Gimme What I Don’t Know (I Want)”)[8]
- Gone are the sharp and swooping big band spectacles of part one and in come the rumbling, sensual urges of part two. "Now take me to your jungle, I'm not afraid," he tells his seductress over a classic Timbaland mix of tinny snare and stage-ready synths on opener 'Gimme What I Don't Know (I Want)'. Much like follow on cut 'True Blood', Timberlake is in a daze of moonlight fantasies and sexual desire. The production is sharp, finely layered and soaked in lust, but the magic is somewhat diluted by over-stretching track lengths.[9]
- Opening tracks Gimme What I Don’t Know (I Want) and True Blood pulse with a rugged, animal funk before schmoozy serenades and orchestral embellishments take over (Cabaret, featuring Drake, is a ditty sounding ‘above pop’).[10]
- Justin kicks off the collection with a tantalizing slice of funky seduction. “Come here, gimme what I don’t know… I want,” he commands above Timba’s chugging beat, twinkling bells and dirty bass licks. There’s a lot of talk about jungles and cages and teeth, which makes this all quite animalistic and carnal and seductive and — oh, would you look at that? All of my clothes just fell off.[11]

[edit]Due to Duff's young age, the song's concept changed into a different direction[23] with "Come Clean" later became about, according to Duff, "a boy and a girl's relationship" and "how somebody thinks they're in the dark". Duff further stated that: "She's tired of it and he's tired of it and they're coming clean, whether it means they're gonna be together or not. They're laying all the cards out on the table and coming out with everything that hasn't been said basically."[24]
DioGuardi described "Little Voice" as being "kind of out there", as opposed to being a "straight-ahead" pop song.[23]
