1/20/2010 - Still here, still kicking. Just not doing much on the editing front. Sigh.

4/5/2007 - I'm taking a Wikibreak. The flu is no fun, and I believe we can all agree that it's not a good idea to edit articles while not fully coherent. (And they're not even GOOD drugs! [grin]). I'll keep an eye on conversations and wish you all the best.

Uh, that's me!

My son got me started on Wikipedia. Blame him.

I earn my keep working as a freelance writer and web designer/developer. My background is in both print and broadcast journalism. I spend my days sitting in front of the computer watching my hips expand working and get my exercise by running out to the mailbox to look for checks.

I don't edit under my real name because I'm not here to pimp my work. But I do want to clear up a misconception that some have about me: I do not and have never had a book in the slush pile of any publisher. This is not to say that I haven't had a book published - I have. However, given the recent problems that Kathy Sierra (warning: disturbing stuff) I'm not sure I want people to be able to track me down. Does this hurt my credibility? Possibly, but I hope that I'll gain credibility through my edits and comments.

Amongst my interests: Technology, photography, old-time radio, British Radio and TV (I'm American, but no one here does radio like the BBC), and House, M.D. - it's about the only network television show I watch.

(Someone asked: Yes, I do have multiple sources of income. That's the nature of freelancing. I love my work and pay the bills and my taxes - including that extra self-employment whammy. I also work from home which means I'm not contributing to the air pollution problem. Got it? Good.)

4/2/2006 - Someone alerted me to the SFWA lawsuit [1], so I came to check the Bauer article. Oh, boy.

I'm still dealing with health issues at present and hope for an "all clear" from the doctor later this summer. I've been checking in on my pared-down watch list from time to time and plan to make edits as necessary to help maintain a neutral POV and well-sourced content.
