Ural Locomotives 2ES7
The 2ES7 is a twin section electric freight locomotive for 25kv AC railways in russia and other CIS countries. The locomotive forms part of a family of modern locomotives from Ural Locomotives which is a partnership between Sinara and Siemens.
History
[edit]The 2ES7 is an AC variant of the 2ES10 for DC electrification. Development started in 2012 and the prototype was presented in 2013. A Compliance Certificate for the type was granted in 2014 allowing it to be used on the mainline.
Description
[edit]The locomotive shares the platform of the 2ES10 and therefore the overall shape and form of the locomotive is similar. Both designs have a more angular appearance than contemporary machines from other manufacturers. The external appearance of the cab and headlight design differ considerably from the 2ES10.
