Jonathan Decoster (American Football Coach)
[edit]Jonathan Decoster (born July 27, 1987) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the tight ends coach at Old Dominion University[1].
Early Life
[edit]A native of Miramar,Florida , Decoster attended Everglades High School where he lettered in Football[2]. Decoster was selected to play in the annual Miami-Dade/Broward All-Star football game[3].
Playing Career
[edit]Decoster played tackle at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 2006-2010[4]. As a four year starter Decoster was part of an offensive line that finished fifth in FBS rushing in 2007[5] and 2008[6].
Coaching Career
[edit]Decoster got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Nevada in 2013 working under his former college position coach Ron Hudson[7] .
West Virginia State University
[edit]Decoser served as the offensive line coach at WVSU for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. His offensive line paved the way for running back Tyrone Barber to break a school record ten rushing touchdowns[8]. In 2016 WVSU rushing offense finished at that time the fifth all time in school history[8].
Louisiana State University
[edit]As a graduate assistant at LSU Football Decoster coached the Tight Ends. In 2018 he coached Foster Moreau LSU first tight end selected in the NFL draft in 11 years[1]. In 2019 Decoster won a National Championship as a member of the historic 2019 LSU Tigers football team[9]. Decoster helped develop tight end Thaddeus Moss into LSU single season record holder in receptions and yards by a tight end[1]. Decoster was the primary recruiter for 2020 LSU football signee Arik Gilbert who is considered the highest rated high school tight end ever[9][10].
Old Dominion University
[edit]In 2020 Decoster joined Ricky Rahne' ODU football coaching staff to serve as the tight ends coach[11].
