I just recently joined Wikipedia and I hope to make a lot of important, if minor, changes within articles. I tend to add to or correct "minor" or lesser-known articles.

My name came from a long-standing scientific debate that lasted from the 17th century to the 19th century. Many people, even intelligent people, believed that living organisms could come from non-living organisms (e.g. flies would appear out of nowhere from rotting carcasses). The issue was that they were basing their views on observations or other untested phenomena. Today it can be likened to the controversy surrounding evolution and creationism. Although some genuinely intelligent people believe in creationism, scientific consensus and evidence strongly supports evolution.
