Background
[edit]Bodmin Community Radio is a community radio station that serves the historic county town of Bodmin in Cornwall and its surrounding areas. It is a non profit, community organisation with the aims of entertaining, informing and engaging the community in the medium of Radio.
It was founded in August 2009 by Aaron James, Tyler Lowes and Bradley Angove along with Bodmin Town Council. The project has also been assisted by the Cornish Guardian, the Bodmin Rotary Club, the BASS youth project, Bodmin WI and Bodmin Lions club.
As of March 2010, this project was abandoned and reformed as NCB Radio, a community station that serves North Cornwall.
Broadcasting
[edit]Bodmin Community Radio is due to launch in late 2010 to early 2011 and will initially be broadcast from the internet, with plans to move to FM in the future when spectrum becomes free as part of the Radio Digital Switchover.
It will broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from its studios (currently being converted) based on the outskirts of the town centre.
The Team
[edit]The majority of the Bodmin Community Radio joined from the now-defunct Bodmin College Radio, with the website domain owner Aaron James reassigning its old www.bc-radio.co.uk domain to the community radio with the same initials.
The management team consists of:
Station Manager & Technical Manager |
Deputy Station Manager & Community/Audience Research Manager |
Programme Manager & Managing Director |
Community
[edit]The central and founding aim of Bodmin Community Radio is to serve its community. The radio is planned to be at the core of a multi platform online community offering giving the community chance to discuss topics affecting the community, as well as the output being centric to the community whether it be speech output or playing the music the community wants to hear.
