Knut Glomsaas
[edit]Knut Markus Hansen Glomsaas (1863-1935) is really known in Trondheim for his music. He was playing the violin and allready as a small boy he assisted his father on the harmonium without knowing a note. When he was seventeen years old he decided to go to America, but his father saw that Knut had other talents. His father stopped him from going to America by getting him to join the millitary like a cornetist in the artillery. All his life to make music, but two years of studying in Berlin.
Knut Glomsaas was especially known for his relativly competance and he also was a conductor. Trondheim is known for the millitary music because of him. Knut wrote music for ballet, march- and millitary music, dance music and he wrote polka for Trondheim 900-years jubilee. Knut Glomsaas has a street named after him, and the name of the street is Knut Glomsaas vei. Here you can see some pictures of the street. You could say he had good rythm and used it well.
