New to mediation

I'm patient by all means but just curious as to how long a mediation would take if say, the other person never responds and just continues on their merry way. Also, what is the proper etique on making changes that keep being reverted? One last question, how would I make a link to the talk page in an edit summary?   • I'll answer your questions in the order asked. If one party in a mediation refuses to participate, then mediation simply doesn't occur. For mediation to work, both parties have to be willing to involve themselves in the process. If one party refuses to participate but continues the disputed action, then mutual dispute resolution isn't going to work and I'd recommend discussing a brief block with an administrator or moving on to file at WP:RFC.

If both parties are active in mediation, then proper etiquette is to avoid editing the article until mediation is complete. If one party doesn't participate, however, there really is no restriction of reverting. Just make sure you adhere to the Three Revert Rule.

Edit summaries don't respond to wiki-coding or HTML. The best bet is to simply say "see talk page" or "see Talk:Article Name". Soltak | Talk 20:22, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Tourette Syndrome Help

I have been to the cabal mediation page, and can't make it work. The instructions were difficult to follow, and I was only able to accomplish the first step. Would you be willing to help out on the Tourette Syndrome page? There have been a number of edits there that have resulted in the page becoming a soapbox and political discussion, beyond NPOV, beyond Wiki guidelines about NPOV and consensus, and verging on little encyclopedic content. However, the parties making the changes initially did not/would not/could not (?) go to the talk page, and have now deleted previous requests to use the talk page. (The talk page, as well, has now been disrupted by incorrect use of edits.) Many have attempted to convert the contributed writing to something more NPOV, while leaving the basic notion being presented (marijuana in the treatment of TS), and asking them to use the talk page, but that has met with no success. When using the first revert after numerous attempts at writing towards consensus, another admin reversed the revert. Each attempt to request the users to talk is met with additional POV. It may just be a case of users not knowing the Wiki philosophy, not understanding NPOV, not recognizing writing for consensus, not knowing how to use the talk page, and not understanding the difference between an encyclopedia and a soapbox. However, the Tourette Syndrome entry now has several sections that should be marked disputed. There are other problems: addition of every possible mention of Tourette's in the media, personal websites about Tourette's being added in for POV, and so on. I would like to create a mediation talk page about this, but have not figured out how to go about doing that. The situation needs someone who knows how to request that the parties use the talk page and read the Wiki guidelines, as a starting place. It also needs a disputed disclaimer, until/unless the parties begin to use the talk page.

ContiE has impersonated me on other wikis

Hi, I'm in a potentially awkward position with an Administrator. I have read the Wiki pages on dispute resolution but I'm still not sure how to proceed.

The Admin ContiE has a personal grudge against me for reasons I do not fully understand. He has been this way since I began frequenting wikipedia.

I have done work improving the furvert article. He has basically gone on a crusade against any edit I make. He controls every furry category article and several others ruthlessly. He is an iron fist and bans anyone he edit wars with. I had uploaded pictures and he deleted them with no talking. He seems to believe I am every person he has had an edit war against. He is always using personal attacks, calling me troll without reason. I uploaded them again and he voted them for deleted, but to his surprise the person who runs the images, thank you Nv8200p, found they were acceptable once I tagged them properly. Just recently he removed both the images without himself discussing it in the talk page (unless he was the same person who discussed only one) with the edit here [1] Then ContiE assumed bad faith, added his constant insult of troll in the talk page. It appears on a completed different wiki, a comedy one in all things, somebody else stole my username and I believe this was Conti himself and uploaded them. ContiE showed it as his reason. While vandalism like his, I would revert and mention it, he would ban me permanently if I undid his edit. That is why I am asking admins for help. He holds a couple of accounts on wikipedia and I think they are administrators so I have to be careful who I tell about this. Arights 07:31, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

I would greatly appreciate help on an edit conflict where the parties reverting back my edits are not stating what is inaccurate but instead falling back on implying that I am "spinning" the facts when in fact I am trying to remove "spin" that emerged during elections and stick instead to the truth.
