The Workers Party of Massachusetts (WPM) is a socialist political party in Massachusets. WPP formed in 2020.
WPM describes itself as a revolutionary socialist party, because capitalism cannot be "reformed out of existence".[1]
History
[edit]In 2020, Dominic "Nick" Giannone founded WPM.[2][3] Giannone had previously run for office in 2013 as a Communist Party USA member.[4] In 2021, WPM gained Massachusetts political designation status.[2][5]
In 2024, WPM member Brandon Griffin was the only person to attempt to challenge Elizabeth Warren.[6] However, Griffin did not collect enough signatures to gain ballot access.[7]
Ideology
[edit]WPM is a revolutionary socialist organization that seeks to overthrow capitalism.[1][8][9] WPM's party program supports greater union rights, a living wage, repealing regressive taxes, voting rights at 16, socialized medicine, free college, ecosocialism, and police abolition.[1]
WPM opposes US military support to Ukraine[1][9][10] and to Taiwan.[1]
Election results
[edit]WPM has fielded electoral candidates for state offices. WPM candidates usually run on a WPM ballot line.
No WPM candidate has yet won an election.
