The Inside Soap Awards is a yearly award ceremony run by Inside Soap magazine since 1996. The awards celebrate the British and Australian soap operas and their actors.
The soap operas nominated for awards are Casualty, Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Holby City, Hollyoaks, Home and Away, and Neighbours. Now defunct soaps that were formerly nominated for awards are The Bill, Bad Girls, Brookside, Crossroads, Family Affairs, Night and Day, Where the Heart Is and Waterloo Road.

2004 award ceremony
[edit]The 2004 Inside Soap Awards ceremony was held in London in September.[4] This year saw the introduction of the Best Snog award.[4] There was a 2% margin in votes between EastEnders and Coronation Street for the Best Soap award and the result faced backlash from Coronation Street stars Andrew Whyment, who described the result as a "disgrace", and Suranne Jones, who said she was "really surprised" by the outcome.[4] The magazine's editor Steven Murphy said "This year the contest was tougher than ever, proving that British soaps are going from strength to strength with each passing year".[4]

[edit]The 2007 Inside Soap Awards ceremony was held in London on 24 September.[7] This year saw the discontinuation of the Best Family and Outstanding Achievement award.[7] The nominations were announced on 3 July 2007 and voting closed on 17 August 2007.[7] Littlewoods Direct sponsored the Sexiest Female, the Best-Dressed Soap Star and the Best Soap awards.[7]
2008 award ceremony
[edit]The 2008 Inside Soap Awards ceremony was held in London on 29 September.[8] This year saw the reintroduction of the Outstanding Achievement award.[9] The nominations were announced on 15 July 2008 and voting closed on 29 August 2008.[9] Littlewoods Direct sponsored the award ceremony and created a prize draw for two people to win a "VIP trip" to the awards.[9]
2009 award ceremony
[edit]The 2009 Inside Soap Awards ceremony was held in London on 28 September.[10] This year saw the discontinuation of the Outstanding Achievement and Best Couple awards and the reintroduction of the Best Family award.[11] The longlist nominations were announced on 8 July 2009, with the shortlist announced on 22 September 2009.[11] Littlewoods Direct sponsored the Best Family, Sexiest Female, Best-Dressed Soap Star and Best Soap.[11]
2010 award ceremony
[edit]The 2010 Inside Soap Awards ceremony was held in London on 27 September.[12] This year saw the introduction of daytime soap awards, Best Daytime Soap and Best Daytime Star as well as awards for Best Stunt, Best Exit, Best Wedding and Best Dramatic Performance and the discontinuation of the Best Bad Boy, Best Bitch, Best Family, Best Storyline and Best Dressed Soap Star awards.[13] The longlist nominations were announced on 13 July 2010, with the shortlist announced on 21 September 2010.
2011 award ceremony
