In the real world, I'm a 30-year-old former software developer-turned-student living in Long Island, New York in the United States. I'm attending Stony Brook University, where I am working toward my PhD in biochemistry and cell biology.
How I came to be a student at my age is not an uncommon story: having entirely burned out from the rigors of the software development field, I was (after some reflection) quite pleased to be laid off. Almost immediately I decided, with the support of my lovely wife Jennifer, to return to Stony Brook University.
Finally, by sheer cosmic coincidence, I happen to share a birthday with the Illustrious Jimbo Wales, but so does Garrison Keillor, David Duchovny, and the Purple Heart. |-

|- | During my attendance here, I have been doing my best to make Wikipedia a better (and better informed) place. I am an administrator, and a staunch advocate for boldness in recognizing the hard work of others and of WikiLove in general.
Finally, when I'm here, I'm fiercely apolitical. I believe that truth and honesty – whether we like it or not – are far more useful than ideology.
If you wish to contact me, feel free to make a note on my talk page. |-

|- | My general tendency is to edit a relatively small number of articles, making large and often exhaustively researched edits. My first major project started when I noticed that the article for sarin was short and ugly, which got me deeply entrenched in rewriting nearly all articles relating in any way with chemical warfare, and which resulted in my first featured article.
I recently joined the start-up WikiProject Beer, and it shows signs of becoming my next additions. |- |-
