Itsagoal (also known as IAG) is a free, online, browser based, football management game[1][2]. The game has a reputation for being as much about the financial side of football, as it is about tactics and team management. Because of this, it is considered to be more challenging than many games in it's genre, as it is more about modern day management of a club as a whole, rather than simply tactics, player coaching and management[3].
The game is free to play and whilst there is an option to subscribe, subscribers get no significant gameplay advantage over users with free accounts. The general aim of the game is to manage a football club by choosing your team's tactics and line-up, organising training, setting ticket prices, dealing in the transfer market, negotiating contracts with current players and organising your backroom staff[4]. There is also the option to set up a youth academy containing up to eight players between the ages of 12 - 18, who on turning 16 can be offered a first team place, or be given more time to progress at youth level[5].
History
[edit]The original Itsagoal was created in 2001, introducing the green interface and menu system which would continue right up until the current version[6]. The original game contained a large number of leagues and clubs, and the general consensus was that the gameplay was too easy and the game structure too disorganised. This resulted in the game being taken off the site by the developers.
