i know this isn't a talk page but we will use it. add a topic by putting it as a heading.
Images
[edit]Sorry I haven't done much recently, I was on a bit of a break due to schoolwork. Because of Wikipedia image policy (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about here), I would like to suggest that the images be removed from all future editions of the newsletter. It's a shame, but I suppose that's how it has to be. Hasn't Neranei been a great help? If only other project members could be that helpful. That reminds me: How's the collaborations going? Has there been much of a result? Anyway, I have my school holidays coming up in 3 weeks. I will be on vacation but I do plan to do some Did You Know? sections for the upcoming editions. Is that ok with you? Let me know what you think anyway. --Joelster 05:28, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- (If I'm allowed to comment here), I can remove the images sometime soon if you want, and I've already done the DYK sections. (I got bored one day) :) The collabs are going OK, not too many people are participating though. :( Anyways, talk to me if you need something! Love, Neranei (talk) 12:50, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- Of course you're allowed to comment here. This is Wikipedia, remember :). I did want to put the image issue to a vote but I suppose they will be removed anyway so what's the point? So if everyone is okay with it the images can be removed. I just wanted to make sure everyone was alright with it. --Joelster 00:23, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Okay well I'll go ahead and remove them. Joelster 04:36, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. I'll be on a holiday next week for a week, so I won't be able to respond to anything until October. So I bid you all farewell until then :)
sorry
[edit]i havent been on this page in a few days so i havent replied. i think neranei will just give us news. the delivery person still hasnt got back to my about the delivery on the 10th. he was on holidays so he might be only back. i will release it on the 12th instead. August Newsletter
[edit]I've added a "New Members" section to the August newsletter, since there are two new members that have signed up. Is it all organized for release on August 10? Just wanted to make sure. Do you think a wider red border would be good? I think it wouldn't be such a bad thing but let me know what you think anyway. --Joelster 03:06, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
more pages
[edit]i have made page and done colours (some i am unsure about) for all the newsletters until next june and a page for the special edition when the new album is out. the newsletter next june will be another special edition celebrating the 1 year annaversary of the newsletter and the project. Smithcool 20:08, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok cool. I've added some song quotes to most of the future editions - feel free to change them if you want to. In the coming days I will try to complete the 'Album' section for the future editions. Regarding your message, I'm sorry I didn't know and I'll keep it like that for all future editions. Joelster 23:53, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
new person
[edit]User:Neranei has asked to join the editing team for the newsletter. because we are doing this as a team i would like you to have a say in it. i dont mind Neranei helping once there is work they can do. let me know asap. thanks. Smithcool 22:10, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
New idea
[edit]i had a new idea (as you can guess by the heading). every month we could release an advert newsletter. not adverts like on tv (they arent allowed on wikipedia), but wikipedia ads. people in the project can send in ads and we will put them in the newsletter. they can be about a new wikiproject that needs members, or people needed for editing an article, or people needed for making templates. it was just an idea. let me know what you think. Smithcool 22:10, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Release date
[edit]i will release the august newsletter on the 10th if it ok with you and in the future they will be released on the first of the month. Smithcool 20:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
More newsletters
[edit]i am after making pages for the next few newsletters (up to december). it is a very quick draft but it may save time in the future. i am back in school at the end of august so i want to get all the newsletters up to december done before then (not including the news or new members ect. sections, just the design and about the album). August Newsletter
[edit]Can you try to get a picture if the band when the album was released.
I found one that is from the HTDAAB era but I don't know how to upload it or if it complies with the fair use policy. Click here[[1]] --Joelster 01:24, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- ask the administrators of the site you got it from for permission or if it is even needed. also have a look at the august newsletter. i made alot of changes last night. Smithcool 14:02, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- i like your edits to the newsletter. Smithcool 14:11, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. Did you have a release date in mind for the August newsletter? I always think it's good to have a date set in mind. I think we could do it by the 20th or even the 10th (if you like the layout as it is then there's only some text to add and then it'll be done). Anyway, let me know what you think --Joelster 03:50, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Great work. i have been busy the last few days and also setting up a new department (i didnt know how much work was in a wikiproject) so i havent had much time editing the newsletters. i looked at the august newsletter and it is great, i just made a few changes. we dont need people to help in the collab. department but that may change in a month or so. i dont mind when to release the august newsletter, but i was thinking that the release date from september onwards will be the 1st. let my know what you think. Smithcool 14:22, 4 August 2007 (UTC).
Reply
[edit]I thought it would just be easier to write one big reply for all the above. Firstly, I have no probs with neranei joining the newsletter team, but do you think we really need more people? Personally I think she could be of more use in other departments but if she wants to help out with the newsletter she is certainly more than welcome. i have made some changes to the october newsletter, see what you think now. Yep, we need as much people as we can, so I'd be for advertising in the newsletters. With the August newsletter, if your happy with the way it is then maybe you could talk to the delivery people you use and arrange everything to make sure it will be delivered smoothly on the 10th. --Joelster 03:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Theme
[edit]i was thinking if we make each newsletter album-themed. like the august newsletter as HOW TO DISMANTLE......BOMB. we can do it in the album colours, use a quote from that era (band quote or song lyrics), and a band picture from that era. i will start experimenting with next months newsletter with HOW TO DISMANTLE....BOMB. if it works well, we can do it on all the newsletters. and we can do a special edition of the newsletter for the new album. we will start making it when a release date it said for the album and release it on the same day. Smithcool 22:16, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Yep alright. I have added a quote from a HTDAAB song to the August newsletter, so the august newletter can be HTDAAB-themed. Maybe the colour scheme could feature black and red, like the album - maybe something similar to the main Project Page. --Joelster 23:29, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
We can start now. just add bits and pieces to it but no rush on anything yet. also on the september newsletter i was hoping to release it on the 1st. i know it is 2 newsletters in a month, but it is easier to have a set date. if it is too much of a rush we can do it in october. also do you have any ideas for the special edition when the new album comes out?? Smithcool 18:39, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
I've made some changes to the August edition. Feel free to change anything you don't like. Sorry for clogging up the newsletter edit history, - I made a mistake but I promise I will use the "Preview" button in the future! Also, if you look on the Project Talk Page, it seems than neranei is eager to help. I've also started the September edition - with an All That You Can't Leave Behind theme. I know it's still early days but I thought I should take the time while I have it. Take a look and see what you think so far - it can be found here --Joelster 01:31, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]if you talk to the people running the assessment department and ask them to do the task section on the project page and also just maybe one or two tasks on the newsletter, maybe urgent ones. Smithcool 22:16, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
