Hi, I'm Bailey Peterson and I am attending college to pursue a career in zoology. I plan on getting all of my prerequisites done at my local community college and then transferring to a 4-year. Once I get my masters in Zoology I hope to join a conservation foundation to help protect an endangered species (hopefully in a rainforest). I am working in a barista stand making latte art and sipping an iced chai, I find that making the perfect coffee is very therapeutic. If I'm not working or at school, I'm helping direct and choreograph elementary school musicals.
I mainly see myself editing pages that have an interest to me or I'm passionate about. So, anything to do with coffee or wildlife or theater might get an edit from me, but I'm also very opinionated so I might have a hard time doing that. I think the talk space in wiki is really cool tool and when its used the right way it can be a huge help to making the article better. I also think the fact that you can go back and look at the original article is interesting because you can see how over the years more and more was added on at subject.
Article Critique
[edit]In High School I was a part of an A Capella group called Crimson Singers. During the holidays our group would partner with The Coats to raise money for the music department through ticket sales; this is how I was introduced with the group. My last year of high school we performed our joint concert at Snohomish High on my Dads birthday. I contacted them and asked if we could sing Happy Birthday to him at the beginning of the concert. Fast forward to the night of the concert, we were all on stage and brought up my dad and sang happy birthday to him. Ever since then my mom and dad go to The Coats whenever they have a show in Seattle, me and my family have an emotional connection to the group, so I decided to research them. I visited The Coats page on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: if there are any grammar errors, or informal language, if each fact cited with a reliable source, and if anything is left out of the article.
Grammar Errors and Informal Language
[edit]The group is not very mainstream, so the article isn’t looked at all that often. Therefore, there are a few instances of improper grammar and informal language. I changed a few minor things like commas, quotations, and changed wording to make the article sound smoother. Other than those few things the article is written pretty well.
Facts with Reliable Sources
[edit]The authors of the article are good about making sure that all the facts that are stated are followed by a source. But one of the more important facts stated in the article didn’t have a source so I added a news article and a link to songs by the group.
Left Out Information
[edit]Since The Coats is a relatively unknown group, their Wikipedia article is pretty slim and is missing a lot of information from the article. I added a few pieces of information I feel like only a choir kid in Washington would know about them.
Summary
[edit]The Coats article was a very short one with little information and links to back up the information it did have. Although it did contain the most important and basic information about the band. I edited the article to contain more information, links and a few grammatical errors.
