User:Skittleys/Redirect templates
I find that the current categorisation of redirect templates is horrifying, and that the information on WHEN to use each is too scattered (it seems that the current recommendation is to include this info on the category page). So, I've made my own. If someone wants to upload it to the WP: namespace, feel free!
This listing will include all the redirect templates, including ones that redirect to another redirect template.

Redirects based on sections
[edit]Template | Usage notes | Redirects |
---|---|---|
{{R to section}} category |
Use when a topic is fully covered in its own section of another article. Note that these redirects should ALWAYS point to the SPECIFIC section, and not just to the general article. For example, Reverse Cowgirl leads to Woman on top (sex position)#Reverse Cowgirl, and Riddle family leads to Lord Voldemort#Riddle family. This is most often used to redirect to characters who merit their own section in an article but do not merit their own article.
