Hi! I'm Ships & Space. I was born in Portland, Oregon, but I've lived most of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area. I currently live in the East Bay. I'm a student at Chabot College, but I'm not interested in getting a degree from there. Since I was homeschooled for most of my life, I'm going there to get used to the classroom experience. I'm hoping to get a Phd in Astrophysics from either UC Berkeley or Stanford. I'm not currently employed (that's different from being unemployed), but that might change in the near–ish future. I've long been a reader of Wikipedia. I was diagnosed as autistic at the age of one, and it's (partly) why I'm very introverted.
If you can't tell from my userpage, I like Star Trek. I like it a lot. Without a doubt, it's my favorite media franchise. I was introduced to TOS when I was about 12, and I've been hooked since. Maybe it's the promise of a better future, of a place to belong; the neet ships and (possibly way too in–depth) descriptions and classification; or maybe the epic moral speeches. Regardless of which of these is the main contributor, there's no denying it: the fan service doesn't hurt. Jokes (attempted) aside, the promise of a utopia is quite appealing.
