Article Draft

The Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum was named after Ben Abruzzo and Maxie Anderson, honored for their contributions and feats provided to the ballooning community over their careers. Anderson and Abruzzo flew the Double Eagle and Double Eagle II Balloons in 1977 and 1978, respectively. These hot air balloon flights were historic-- the Double Eagle II was one of the first to successfully cross the Atlantic^[1] in one piece. Ben and Max both died brutal deaths in mid/early 1983: Max from a balloon accident and Ben from a plane crash nearly two years later.^[1]
