This is the sandbox page where you will draft your initial Wikipedia contribution.
If you're starting a new article, you can develop it here until it's ready to go live.
If you're working on improvements to an existing article, copy only one section at a time of the article to this sandbox to work on, and be sure to use an edit summary linking to the article you copied from. Do not copy over the entire article. You can find additional instructions here.
Remember to save your work regularly using the "Publish page" button. (It just means 'save'; it will still be in the sandbox.) You can add bold formatting to your additions to differentiate them from existing content.
The Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum was named after Ben Abruzzo and Maxie Anderson, honored for their contributions and feats provided to the ballooning community over their careers. Anderson and Abruzzo flew the Double Eagle and Double Eagle II Balloons in 1977 and 1978, respectively. These hot air balloon flights were historic-- the Double Eagle II was one of the first to successfully cross the Atlantic[1] in one piece. Ben and Max both died brutal deaths in mid/early 1983: Max from a balloon accident and Ben from a plane crash nearly two years later.[1]

Some specifics and information about the Double Eagle II Gas Balloon Transatlantic Flight, which was piloted by museum namesakes, Ben Abruzzo and Maxie Anderson themselves, with the help of Larry Newman in August 1978. A whole exhibit is dedicated to the instruments, notes, and regalia of the 5 Double Eagle flights in the largest portion of the museum.
