Nada Bakos (born May 1969) is an American author, expert in United States foreign policy and national security, and a former Central Intelligence Agency analyst and officer. She is a senior fellow in national security at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, and the author of Targeter: My Life in the CIA, and the Hunt for the Godfather of ISIS (2017).

Early life and education

Bakos is a native of Montana[1] and is a fourth-generation Montanan.[2]

Career

Bakos served an analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency, from 2000 to 2010.[2] Bakos began her career at the CIA as an intelligence analyst, later joining the National Clandestine Service as a targeting officer.[3] As a targeting officer, she worked to track al-Qaeda in Iraq chief Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.[4][5] She was featured prominently in HBO's 2013 documentary film, Manhunt: The Search for Bin Laden.[6]

After leaving the CIA, she worked as a security and business consultant for a variety of organizations and companies, including Starbucks.[4]

Bakos's memoir, Targeter: My Life in the CIA, and the Hunt for the Godfather of ISIS, is forthcoming.[1]
