Mahendra Pal Sharma (Hindi: महेंद्र पाल शर्मा) (born 9 July 1955), is a Hindi scholar, critic, author and renowned professor[1] of Hindi at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. He has published four books and co-authored two Hindi grammar books, and a play. He also has two upcoming books in English and in Hindi.
Biography
[edit]Mahendra Pal Sharma was born on 9 July 1955 in the city of Bulandshahr, in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his M.A. (Hindi) in 1978, and his M.Phil. in 1981, and later he did his PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University (1981–84). He joined Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 1984 as a Lecturer of Hindi, and later became a Professor and then the Head of the Department of Hindi in the university.[2] He was selected by the ICCR to teach as Visiting Professor of Hindi for a period of three years at Institute of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw, Poland. Along with this, he has served as the Officiating Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Languages and Officiating Director of A.J. Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi.
Published seven research articles in referred International Journals[3] and delivered lectures on various aspects of Indian Literature, Culture, Indian Society and Media etc.[4]

[edit]Under the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) Cultural Exchange Programme, Prof. Sharma served as Visiting Professor of Hindi in the University of Warsaw, Poland and taught Hindi Language and Literature to the students of University of Warsaw. While delivering a dozen of lectures on various aspects of Indian Literature, culture, History and civilization.
Full Professor of Indian Studies (March 2008 to Feburary 2011)
[edit]After returning from Poland and continuing his job at JMI, in 2008, once again he was selected by ICCR to teach Hindi Language and Indian Culture as a Full Professor of Indian Studies. Here he taught Hindi language and literature, Urdu, and Indian Culture at the Department of Indian Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea.
Full Professor of Indian Studies (2016 to 2018)
[edit]After having been acquainted with Prof Sharma, HUFS invited him to teach at the university for another term from 2016 to 2018.
Presently, he is Professor of Hindi, Jamia Millia Islamia.
