Shakeel is a young Christian social worker and Minority Right Activist from Azad Kashmir. This young genius is popularly known as Shakeel Anjum Sawan. In addition to being an active journalist, he is a Poet, Rights activist, Blogger, Webmaster, Youtuber, and social welfare worker. Among the local Christians, he is renowned for his Social Work, Political Struggle and poetry.

He started poetry at an early age, in July 1998 he penned his first poem “Iss Sawaan Main Khub Badal Roye.” His debut creation received great appreciation from his teachers who acknowledged his tremendous poetic ability.

Encouraged to a great extent by this appreciation, he started poetry on a regular basis. He went on to create poems, ghazals, rhymes, etc. This incredible poet has thus far penned down about 400 poems and ghazals. The first edition of his poetic compilation, “Yaadien Jatien Nahi” is in its final phase of completion.

However, this phenomenon was not limited to the sphere of poetry but he also started writing articles for various magazines. He gained broad appreciation when he wrote an article about Christians in Azad Kashmir published in Humsookhan International.

At present, he is working as Website Administrator of Nawai Masihi Website” This website has stepped forward as an effective platform which fashions awareness about indispensable issues of Christians including education, fundamental rights of minorities, interfaith harmony, and unity.

He is working as “Coordinator” for “Pakistan Emerging Leaders Summit (PELS)” a joint project of “Pakistan Partnership Initiative (PPI)” and “Social Awareness and Leadership Training(SALT)”.  He is also affiliated with several other national and international minority newspapers and channels including “Monthly Humsookhan International”, “Awaz-E-Aqliat” and “Jesus Link TV”.

While representing Azad Jammu and Kashmir he is working with Christian Communication Development Network as Coordinator.
