The Treasury of Atreus is a tomb for a leader of the Trojan war, this battle was started by the kidnapping and raping of the kings wife Helen, Agamenom, the supposed brother of Menalos(Helens husband). The structure of the tomb is located within the side of a hill. The entrance is well known for it's exquisite dome-like appearance. Known to have the heaviest doorway. A small hewen chamber within the structure contained the burials, whereas the main chamber held the rituals. [1]
The tools type is composed of dorms, an unroofed passage cut at the angles to the slope of the hill. Leading to a stone, or deep doorway, opening into a round chamber, a tools. The tools were created by digging vertically into the hillside, like a well, and then roofed with a stone corralled vault that began at the floor level of the chamber. Tiers of ashlar masonry were laid in rings so that each successive tier projected slightly farther inward, until only a small opening is left over at the top[2]
The tomb is one of a number of 'beehive' tombs found in the victinity of the ancient site of Mycenae.[3]A small hewn chamber located held the dead.
