BankerBay Technologies is an online deal sourcing platform that helps later stage and middle-market companies raise capital[1] by introducing them to relevant capital providers, using a matching algorithm. The platform helps members buy and sell companies as well as locate potential investments[2], globally. BankerBay provides transactions in M&A, commercial real estate, project finance and private equity.[3]
History
[edit]BankerBay was founded in 2013 by Romesh Jayawickrama and was originally headquartered in Singapore. The company secured close to $1 million in funding in an angel round in 2014.[4] In 2015, BankerBay closed a $2.1 million seed funding round and subsequently moved its headquarters to New York, USA.[5] In 2016, BankerBay raised another USD 2 million in a convertible funding round. In 2017, BankerBay established its fifth office in Shanghai, China. The company currently has offices in Singapore, USA, India, the United Kingdom and China.[6]
Services
[edit]BankerBay matches sell-side deals with potential investors, based on the criteria they enlist on the platform.[7]Their system essentially profiles sell-side companies using criteria such as sector, sub-sector, geography, financials, EBITDA and others.[8]Using this data, the platform is able to match the company with the appropriate buyer or investor whose criteria matches the sellers’.[9] Members remain anonymous until they mutually consent to an introduction. In 2016 the company added features to its platform to facilitate commercial real estate transactions.[10]In 2018 the company launched its UNSDG product, enabling investors on the platform to search for deals that match their social and development agendas.[11]
