Our Lady of the Nile is an Egyptian mummy located at the St. Petersburg Museum of History in St. Petersburg, Florida.[1]
Discovery
[edit]In 1922 a carnival operator toured the Mississippi River with a variety of items including an mummy from Egypt. The same year the operator docked in St. Pete but was unable to pay the port fees. He offered the mummy as payment. [2]
In 1925 the mummy was donated to the St. Petersburg Museum of History and has remained on display. In 2014 the TV series Museum Men covered the mummy in an episode.
Dating
[edit]In 1973 the mummy was x-rayed and CAT Scanned. The mummy is a woman between the ages of 30 and 35. The mummy has been dated to approximately 3,000 years ago. The mummy remains unidentified but is believed to be a member of the -upper middle class or minor nobility.
