The polytechnic of Namibia annual cultural festival

The cultural festival is a week long period of cultural festivities where the polytechnic students acknowledge the richness of different diversity of cultures and learn from one another. The event happens at the beginning of August.The festval was first launched in 1995,right after the polytechnic became an indepedent high institution[1]. On the official opening day, the rector of the Polytechnic of namibia Dr Tjama Tjivikua, officially open the event and welcome the guests. This is the opportunity where awereness about different cultures is raised.Students perform different festivities which includes drama, poetry, comedy, and live dances. Among the guest, is the representative from First national bank, the bank has been repeatedly sponsoring the event.The crowning of Miss and Mr Polytechnic is also part of the festival[2]. Students and local people are allowed to enter into the flea market where they can sell their cultural products on campus.The office of the dean of students, SRC, and the cultural commitee members are responsible to make the festival a dream come true[3]. On the international ciusine day,people enjoy different dishes from different countries all over the world, prepared by polytechnic students and staff[4].
