This is a list of things I look for when reviewing for the featured portal process. It is by no means concrete or complete.
- No fair use images

- Box headers
- Appropriate box titles
- Relevant/coordinated coloring
- Introduction
- Main article must be linked.
- Must provide a total summary of the main topic.
- Show new selections
- At least two rotated content boxes
- Articles/Biographies/Pictures/Quotes etc...
- Must have an archive and nominations page.
- Provide pictures when available
- Be well summarized
- Be well linked, including the target article
- At least ten selections for each selected content box
- Auto rotating, either random or week/month
- Topics
- Be comprehensive
- No red links
- Related Wikiprojects
- Main project, parents and children
- Related Portals
- Parents and children
- Categories
- Lists
- Own box or can be included in cat/topic box
- Wikimedia based on {{WikipediaSister}}
