Article Critiques Week 3
[edit]I looked at the Rally 'round the flag page:
I found that the information was more in depth on the creator the term and gave a more complete definition of the effect, but the definition's three qualities could be expanded upon past the minimal wording used to describe the currently.
When talking about why the effects happens the article talks about two different schools of thought but there isn't a clear citation about either school or whether the information about the school came from.
I also felt the article only really showed the problem with the rally 'round the flag effect calling it a syndrome and speaking of the controversy about how the effect can be seen as an incentive for Presidents to be warmongers and not how it can unite the country in times of need.
In the historical examples the last example about Chinese-Japanese territorial disputes and the escalation is void of mentioning any polling data or Presidents. This means it doesn't show how the example is a reference to rally 'round the flag
There are also some citations needed in the article.
I asked the page about what the historical example not having data and about the lack of citation for the schools.

A lot of work needs to be down to include citations for the different schools of thought. Right now there is no citation attached to either.
The last historical example is also not a rally 'round the flag event appropriate to this article because it doesn't have to do with Presidential Approval ratings only the approval ratings of Putin.
There also needs to be a citation for the controversy section
