Herb Welch is a character played by Bill Hader on Saturday Night Live. Welch is depicted as a very old reporter for WXPD News, who often gets confused during interviews and often hits the interviewees with his microphone, as well as often bantering with news anchor Jack Rizzoli.
Welch has become a fan favourite character of Hader's, though not reaching the same levels of fame as Stefon. Hader has referred to Welch as one of his favourite characters, and has reprised the role since leaving the show in 2012.
