Roy Batty is a fictional character created by author Philip K. Dick from his 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. The novel was adapted by director Ridley Scott for his 1982 science fiction film Blade Runner in which the role was portrayed by Dutch actor Rutger Hauer. The character is depicted as a Nexus-6 series Replicant - a bioengineered being used for slave labour off-world. Batty leads a group of rogue Replicants who are beginning to expire, and seek more life from their creator - Eldon Tyrell.
