Covina and Mateo (stylised as Covina & Mateo) is an American musical duo consisting of members Joseph Covina and Mateo.^[1] They made their performance debut in June 2015 at Prive at Dorchester in Denver, Colorado. Covina & Mateo's musical style combines gritty electronic synthesized elements and live instruments and is generally categorized as Electro House and "Big Room" Progressive House music genres. They are best known for winning the Spinnin' Records Miami Demo Drop contest in March 2016 with their demo entitled "Bare Knuckles"^[2].

History

Early Years

2015 - Present

Joseph Covina and Mateo formed the group Covina & Mateo officially in Spring of 2015.^[3] During June of that year, the band gained prominence among music fans in Denver when they began playing supporting DJ sets for DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs Swanky Tunes and Jay Hardway, as well as Goshfather & Jincoand other big ticket acts in various clubs throughout the city, including Beta Nightclub and Prive at Dorchester. The duo has also remixed records for Swanky Tunes and former Swedish House Mafia DJ Steve Angello. On Saturday October 31, 2015, Halloween night, Covina & Mateo were the headline act for Privé at Dorchester's one-year anniversary celebration ^[4]^[5].
