Introduction
[edit]Trance music is a genre of electronic dance music that possesses the repetition of melodic phrases furthermore a musical form that distinctly builds tension and elements throughout a track. The way trance music sounds to the way it is produced shows how uncommon it is compared to other music genres. I visited the Trance music article on Wikipedia and found three aspects worth commenting on: are there grammar errors, or informal language? is each fact cited with an appropriate, reliable source? Are any of the links dead?
Are there grammar errors, or informal language?
[edit]The article uses propper grammar and language to educate what trance music is, the history of trance music, and how trance music is produced. The first sentence of the article, "Trance is a genre of electronic dance music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes." has proper grammar and does not use vague words but instead uses words like "emerged" that makes the sentence have some ambiguity. The first sentence of the history section of the article "The "Trance" name may refer to an induced emotional feeling, high, euphoria, chills, or uplifting rush that listeners claim to experience, or it may indicate an actual trance-like state the earliest forms of this music attempted to emulate in the 1990s before the genre's focus changed. A writer for Billboard magazine writes, "Trance music is perhaps best described as a mixture of 70s disco and 60s psychedelia"." this sentence goes into detail about trance name with good clarity and engagement. The introduction sentence of the subgenre section of the article "Trance music is broken into a number of subgenres including acid trance, classic trance, hard trance, hardstyle (which is a fuse between hardcore and hard trance), progressive trance, and uplifting trance." is very easy to read, uses parentheses, and commas to create a proper sentence structure. These three sentence examples show how clear and correct the article is with appropriate grammar and formal language.
Is each fact cited with an appropriate, reliable source?
[edit]The article displays many facts cited with appropriate and reliable sources. The first important fact that the article stated was that Trance music is a genre of electronic dance music, which used a citation from a Wikipedia article with reliable information called “Electronic dance music” that lists trance music as one of the genres of electronic dance music. The article defines trance as a state of hypnotism, heightened consciousness, and uses a citation from a Wikipedia article on trance that provides more in-depth information about the meaning of trance. The article’s first sentence about trance music production is that trance music employs a 4/4 time signature, and the sentence, it cites the definition of what a time signature is and to a manual called “The Dance Music Manual: Tools, Toys, and Techniques – Second Edition.” These three examples are some of the many facts in the article with appropriate and reliable sources.
Are any of the links dead?
[edit]Thirty-seven links are used in the article, with each redirecting you to a site that displays information. The first link used in the article was “Electronic dance music”:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_dance_music; the link works properly and shows relevant information the topic of the sentence. The article has a link to a Wikipedia article that displays information about a subgenre of trance music “Uplifting trance”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uplifting_trance; the link takes you to a perfectly working page that displays information about what “Uplifting trance” is and relevant details on Trance music. The music festival section lists down music festivals that played trance music with a link of an article that explains what the festival is, and one of those is “Tomorrowland”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomorrowland_(festival); the link takes you to an article that explains what Tomorrowland is and other relevant information about Tomorrowland. These examples show how the links work and provide relevant information for the article.
Conclusion
[edit]When visiting the Trance music article on Wikipedia, I was paying attention to three aspects: are there grammar errors or informal language? Is each fact cited with an appropriate, reliable source? And are any of the links dead? The article uses formal language and proper grammar within every sentence in each section of the article. The article lists a reliable source for every fact it lists. The links in the article all work and show relevant information. The article is formal with reliable and working sources.
