Scratch Animations (born on October 29, 2008. Also known as "Aaron O'Donnell") is an Irish YouTuber, filmmaker, animator and actor. He is known for directing The Disco, Scratch: A Biographical Story and the upcoming CN Adventures: The Wholesome Movie, writing The SpongeHashi SquarePants Movie and Pibby: Darkness Destiny and working on the mini web series CN Adventures.
Career
[edit]In 2021, Scratch Animations set up his production company "Scratch Animation Studios" to produce independent YouTube films in association with Gob Movies and Ivan Simonov Productions, including Gob and the Quest for KFC, Ringtone and Media and the Lost Nintendo Phone and The Ivan Simonov Toons Movie but they were all cancelled in 2022.
He voiced characters in independent mini web series Bob's Crazy Life and March Across Dimensions. He was also set to co-create a show with Generally Paper, Slice of Catcake and Amberu Desu titled The Memorabile 3, but the series was cancelled.
In October 2022, Scratch Animations started filming for his first feature film, The Disco, which released on YouTube on May 26th, 2023. It received positive reviews from audiences, but it's runtime and ending received mixed reactions.
In July 2023, he announced he would be making a stop-motion movie titled Fallout: The Movie (not related to the Fallout video game franchise) for his production company Scratch Animation Studios, but it was cancelled in October 2023. Half of it's storylines and characters went into Scratch's next movie The Magnificent Five
In January 2024, he announced that he would be making a live-action/animated short film in collaboration with Australian YouTube animator Benji Arnold titled John, based on the 2011 Working Title/Universal film Paul. Benji and Scratch were gonna directed, write (with Malik MacMahon) and produce the short together with Benji animating John. However, Benji dropped out of animating and Scratch considered animating John 2D. However, it was cancelled due to Scratch finding the film "hard to complete" and being associated with other projects.
In February of 2024, he joined Hashi Robb Eligio's film SpongeHashi SquarePants Movie as writer, executive producer and actor. He later announced the same month he started writing the script for his second movie The Magnificent Five. The film was later cancelled on July 4th, 2025.
In May 2024, he announced that he was working on a mini web series with Hashi Robb Eligio titled CN Adventures, for which he is a editor and executive producer and a co-production between HRETelevision, Scratch Animation Studios and then starting episode 6, W Studios. Episode 1 was released on May 15th, 2024. He would later voice act in episode 4. The web series has received positive reviews from audiences. He uploaded episodes 1 to 10 on his channel on June 20th, 2024.
On June 13th 2024, he said he would once again collaborate with HRETelevision and W Studios on Sketched Out, created by Wayne Gutierrez. Scratch will executive produce through his company Scratch Animation Studios. A day later, he announced he would direct, write and produce the film adaptation of "CN Adventures", titled CN Adventures: The Wholesome Movie.

[edit]Other than his YouTube videos, Scratch Animations is known for directing The Disco, CN Adventures: The Wholesome Movie and Scratch: A Biographical Story, writing The SpongeHashi SquarePants Movie and Pibby: Darkness Destiny and helping out in the now-cancelled Gob and the Quest for KFC and Ringtone and Media and the Lost Nintendo Phone.
He also voiced characters in the British-American mini web series Bob's Crazy Life and the Australian web series March Across Dimensions. He currently works with Hashi Robb Eligio and Wayne Gutierrez on the web series CN Adventures, Pibby: Darkness Destiny and CN: Battle.
Gob and the Quest for KFC
[edit]Scratch Animations was attached to write a song and executive produce the GOB Movies film Gob and the Quest for KFC. He also lended his voice to "Triton", the antagonist of the film. According to him, he wrote a villain song for Triton that was once available on YouTube, but was deleted. However the film was cancelled due to it's director Gob Gobbingston quitting YouTube.
The Memorable 3
[edit]In 2021, Scratch Animations and Generally Paper were set to co-create a show titled The Memorable 3, which would be set in a city full of heists and good people. Scratch was set to edit, animate and voice one of the characters in the series. Slice of CatCake and Amberu Desu later joined to co-create alongside Scratch and Paper. However the show was later cancelled for a unknown reason.
Ringtone and Media and the Lost Nintendo Phone
[edit]A feature project based on "Ringtone and Media" titled Ringtone and Media and the Lost Nintendo Phone by Patricia's SteamYards was in development with Patricia directing alongside Scratch Animations, with Scratch writing and producing. Patricia would voice Ringtone and Scratch would voice Media. The film was cancelled for a unknown reason.
The Ivan Simonov Toons Movie
[edit]Scratch was set to be an executive producer and actor for Ivan Simonov's The Ivan Simonov Toons Movie in 2022. However the project never came out.
Bob's Crazy Life
[edit]Scratch Animations worked on a show created by Savage Burrito titled Bob's Crazy Life. Only 2 full episodes were released and Scratch worked on the episodes as a background artist. He also voiced characters in the episodes. The first episode was released on July 29th, 2022 and the second episode was released on November 11th, 2022. The show received positive reviews from audiences for it's humour.
The Disco
[edit]The Disco (also known as Foróige: The Movie in the UK, US, Canada and Ireland) was directed by Scratch Animations and started production in October 2022, originally intended to be a vlog. However, he only managed to record some scenes and later turned it from a vlog to a feature film. It had several release date changes from July 14th down to May 26th. It was released in the UK and Ireland on May 26th and in Canada, the US and worldwide on June 2nd. It received positive reviews from audiences, but it's runtime and ending received mixed reactions.
Fallout: The Movie
[edit]In July 2023, Scratch Animations and an irl friend of his started production on a stop motion animated film titled Fallout: The Movie, which wouldn't be related to the Fallout games. It would follow 8 mercenaries as they get recruited by a crime boss who leads a crime syndicate to pull off a mass amount of crimes. The film was later cancelled in October 2023 due to issues with dialogue recording. Half of it's storylines and characters went into Scratch's later-next movie The Magnificent Five. Scratch later transitioned to stop motion with The Heist of Union Jack/
March Across Dimensions
[edit]Scratch Animations voiced a unknown villain in episode 2 of Benji Arnold and Qwiff's mini web series March Across Dimensions and also animated a LEGO sequence as one of the dimensions where the main characters go. The stop motion sequence featured two characters from Scratch's cancelled Fallout: The Movie, which Benji and Qwiff were originally actors in. Only 2 episodes were made by Benji and Qwiff. Benji animated the web series and Qwiff wrote the script. The first episode was released on August 31st, 2023 and the second episode was released on September 27th, 2023. The web series received positive reviews from audiences.
John
[edit]Scratch Animations and Benji Arnold were set to direct, write (with Malik MacMahon) and produce a short film based on the 2011 film Paul titled John, in which a green alien crash lands in a writer's backyard and has to get the writer to help him get back home. Benji was set to animate and voice the alien, with Scratch playing the writer. Benji animated 2 shots before quitting as animator, so Scratch took over as animator. However, it was cancelled due to Scratch finding the film "hard to complete" and being associated with other projects.
The SpongeHashi SquarePants Movie
[edit]On February 24th, 2024, Scratch joined The SpongeHashi SquarePants Movie directed by Hashi Robb Eligio. He wrote the film alongside Hashi and also executive produced the film. He would also voice "Scratch" in the film. The character is based on SpongeBob SquarePants. The film is about an evil Red Hashi trying to destroy SpongeHashi and his friends. The film was put on hiatus for a while due to Hashi working on CN Adventures, and was eventually cancelled in November 2024 cause of work on Hashi's CN Adventures film.
The Magnificent Five
[edit]Scratch started writing a film titled The Magnificent Five on the 16th of February 2024. He finished writing the script in June and started filming in March. This film featured some characters and plotlines from Scratch's Fallout: The Movie, featuring some of the same characters name. The film was about 5 mercenaries who have to fight over a bag of drugs after their boss pays them cocaine. The film was set to release on February 7th, 2025, but Scratch later cancelled the film on July 4th, 2025 after deciding that the film would be hard to make and wouldn't be finished filming before the release date.
CN Adventures
[edit]Scratch was approached by Hashi Robb Eligio to edit CN Adventures, a show created by Hashi Robb Eligio. He later agreed and joined on the show as an executive producer. The show was produced by HRETelevision and Scratch Animation Studios and until episode 10, W Studios; before it was merged with Gleatune Studios to form DoodleToast Animation. He voiced Ted the Salesman in episode 4, wrote episode 10, voiced Crazy Food from Animatic Battle in episode 13 and directed and wrote episode 19. According to him, CN Adventures is his magnum opus, as it gets over 1 thousand views for every episode. When he uploaded a compilation of the first ten episodes, he gained over 100 subscribers and over 1K views on the video. He is set to animate a bit of episode 11. The show came out on Hashi's YouTube channel on May 16th, 2024 and received mostly positive reviews from audiences.
CN Adventures: The Wholesome Movie
[edit]Hashi Robb Eligio started development on CN Adventures: The Wholesome Movie. Scratch Animations later volunteed to direct the film for Hashi, as he he assumed that Hashi would find it tiredsome directing this movie and "The SpongeHashi SquarePants Movie". Hashi then worked on the movie as "writer" and "executive producer" and reprises his role as C and N. According to Scratch, the film would be made by an entirely different team than the team working on "The SpongeHashi SquarePants Movie". Scratch is also set to voice a character named "Dr. Hanz Jr.", and reprise his roles as Ted and Crazy Food. The film has a set release date of October 1st, 2025.
Scratch: A Biographical Story
[edit]Scratch: A Biographical Story started production on July 4th, 2024. Scratch cancelled The Magnificent Five to work on this movie as he assumed it would be easier to make a biopic mockumentary film about himself that can appeal to all audiences instead of a film about violence and drugs (The Magnificent Five). The film is set to come out on February 7th, 2025.
Pibby: Darkness Destiny
[edit]Scratch was announced to be an executive producer and writer for Wayne Gutierrez's upcoming show Pibby: Darkness Destiny. He co-wrote the first episode with Mark Canty and Wayne Gutierrez. He voices "Alligator" in the show.
CN: Battle
[edit]Scratch Animations is set to executive produce (alongside Wayne Gutierrez), edit and act in CN: Battle, making it his fifth collaboration with Hashi Robb Eligio and Wayne Gutierrez. He will also voice Epic Hand, TV5 and United Kingdom.
The Heist of Union Jack
[edit]On September 23rd, Scratch had an idea for developing a stop-motion web series with his friend and collaborator Snakey Animations. He later asked him if they would team up and create a series together, which Snakey said yes. Scratch and Snakey planned to make 13 5-minute episodes in which he'd put them together to form a film. A day later, the project was titled The Heist of Union Jack. The show would follow 5 British criminals who would want to steal a massive shiny diamond to complete their collection.
Snakey and Scratch were set to voice 2 of the criminals, with Sketchy Skomp, Vlogmations and RoobTopus set to voice the other 3. Scratch's collaborators on CN Adventures Hashi Robb Eligio, Jacob Anderson, and Faustino Channel and best friend Sean Crosse are set to have minor roles. RoobTopus left the show on August 31 due to an argument between him and co-star Sketchy Skomp.
The series will be animated by Snakey in stop-motion form with Hashi handling 2D elements. The show will be produced by Scratch Animation Studios and Snakey Productions LLC in association with HRETelevision, Romedy Central, DoodleToast Animation, the British Film Commission, the UK Global Screen Fund and the BFI. The first episode will be released on October 29th, 2024.
The Peeman Film
[edit]Scratch is set to co-write and co-produce a Peeman film with FredojiraX and Maki. He is also set to voice a character.
Controversy
[edit]Heist of Union Jack Controversy
[edit]On August 31st, 2024 on the Heist of Union Jack server, cast members Sketchy Skomp and RoobTopus and server member ViceSquad 69 had a full-blown argument about a joke someone said. Creators Scratch and Snakey, and voice artist Shakersfear tried to stop the argument. ViceSquad and RoobTopus were frequently timed out because of it. The argument lasted ages. In the end, RoobTopus left the show and backed out of his role as "Timothy Leggitt" on the web series, making him recast. Scratch stated that RoobTopus will be uncredited, blacklisted and removed from all material related to the show. The two were also banned from the "CN Adventures" and "CNATWM" discord server as part of the controversy.
Server Raid
[edit]On November 17th 2024, a couple of raiders raided the discord server for CN Adventures: The Wholesome Movie and pinged everyone and sent a gruesome image of a slaughtered pig. Scratch later banned them from joining the server. Scratch was later asked to join a group chat with the raiders in order to tell them to stop. The raiders kept critising the animation style for CNATWM and refused to believe he was 16 and also stated about CN Adventures's orignality. The raider group also criticised an animator working on CNATWM, calling him a loser.
The raiders then raided Scratch's discord server, and pinged everyone multiple times in loads of channels and sent Woody Woodpecker NSFW images. The raiders kept saying they didn't do anything wrong but were later banned by Scratch. People that helped step in to stop the raid included Scratch's sister, Sketchy Skomp and Tiniest Gomis. Scratch's friend Vlogmations added a DynoBot to the server to get rid of all the messages and images sent by the raiders.
Scratch Animations put out a post on his YT channel's community tab and announced on both the CNATWM server and his own server about the raids, and talking about doing everything they can to make the server back to normal, and told people to remove contact with them.
Personal Life
[edit]Scratch lives in Kinvara in Co. Galway, Ireland. In one episode in 2020, he was one of the people who appeared on RTÉ's Home School Hub during a "dancing" sequence. He is also a stage actor as he appeared in his school's 2022 TY production of "West Side Story" as a Jet Extra, Kinvara Theatre Group's production of The Shaughraun as a Sergeant and his school's TY production of "The Wiz as a Winkie.
