Introduction
[edit]My name is Sarmad Ahmad and I am a young scholar who studies in class 7. I attend Nasr Boys School located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. I am part of a nuclear family of two parents, me and my sister. Wondering why I am sharing so much information about myself? I am sharing so much information about myself because I am on Wikipedia, the land of long articles (which I personally do love a lot, I like both reading long articles and also writing long articles)! If you want to know about me at school, I'll just say that I am that kid who speaks on a given topic for a minimum of two minutes straight explaining each and every detail related to the topic and also sometimes talking about other topics. This really becomes boring to my surrounding pupils but I go one speaking until I finish my talk (sometimes even disregarding the teacher's attempt to continue explaining the topic himself/herself). Though I am interested in all the subjects, I pay close attention to science because my father, from my birth, was determined to make me a doctor particularly a surgeon particularly a neurosurgeon. I share an undisputed passion for writing too and now you know why I am describing myself so deeply. Enough talk, why are we reading about a weirdo like me? Instead of reading why I am here on Wikipedia in the first place?
Why am I on Wikipedia?
[edit]The story begins like this:- I recently (two days ago) explored Wikipedia in search of articles favoring the completion of my projects. I stumbled upon the "Log In" link and there I found out that if I create a new account, I can become a registered Wikipedia user who has an internet presence. After I completed one of my projects because I was motivated to swipe those projects papers away from me, I created my own account and suddenly I found myself having a lot of control over Wikipedia which I as a viewer, merely, never found! That was when I decided to edit articles I had used to complete my project. I made the articles more visually appealing, I added context to many parts of the article I personally felt hard to grasp, I added vocabulary to the article to make it more engaging and I lastly added meanings to some words which I myself realized were perplexing {puzzling, confusing; just like this example}! And now I am here, writing all these small achievements of mine.
The ideology I am going to have as a Wikipedia contributor is that I want to viewer-friendly and not write content just for my gratification {satisfaction} i.e., I want to add my own understanding about certain concepts instead of just laying them down in the article; I want to use words that are simple and not use words to show how civilized {well-mannered} I am or at least provide simple definitions to the complex words I cannot avoid, just like the example I laid there. This is not a rant {a speech which is said angrily to express one's disappointment (sadness) over a topic} on the already established Wikipedia authors which I believe are more wise than me and are also more resourceful, so much that they can actually give citations {links that state that some content was originated from another source, other than the author's brain} from books and magazines which I can hardly! But it is the way I imagine and expect Wikipedia to be:- A place where even the least educated person can understand the topic being discussed without being ashamed that he/she isn't capable to be surfing {exploring the internet} Wikipedia.
