[edit]Release
[edit]On July 6, 2021, SB19 announced the release date for Pagsibol via their official social media accounts, scheduled later that month.[1] The EP was released on July 22, 2021, to all major digital streaming platforms[2] through Sony Music Philippines;[3] it was their second major release since their debut studio album, Get in the Zone (2020).[4] The EP was made available for digital download in Japan on the same day through Sony Music Entertainment.[5] The boy band opened pre-orders for CD copies of the EP on December 21, 2021,[6] which was available exclusively on their website.[7]
Singles
[edit]Pagsibol was supported by three singles, one of them charted on the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart. "What?" was released as the lead single of Pagsibol on March 9, 2021.[8][9] The accompanying music video, directed by band member Justin,[9] was released on the same day on YouTube,[10] which garnered over one million views in less than 24-hours.[11] Celebrating mother's and father's day, SB19 released "Mapa" as the EP's second single on May 16, 2021, which also serves as a tribute to parents. A lyric video was released on the same day on YouTube, garnering more than 15 million views in less than a month.
Despite not being independently released from the EP on any record formats, several news outlets, including Billboard, noted that "Bazinga" is the third and final single from the EP in October 2021.[12][13][14] It was accompanied by a video game-inspired music video directed by Jonathan Tal Placido, which was released on October 29, 2021 on YouTube.[15] "Bazinga" received widespread media attention and commercial acclaim after entering Billboard's Hot Trending Songs chart. The song debuted at number nine, dated November 13, 2021.[16] The song later stayed atop the chart for seven non-consecutive weeks,[17] which initially broke BTS' record for the longest number-one hit on the chart with their single "Butter" (2021);[18][19] "Bazinga" was the third song to top the chart.[20] Following the song's success, SB19 was recognized as the first Filipino act to top the chart.[18]
