RAVI SANTHEHAKKALU

Ravi Santhehakkalu is a Production Designer in Kannada Film Industry. He has won the Karnataka State Award for Best Production Design two times. Over the years, he has emerged to be one of the finest Art Director in Kannada Film Industry. Born: 4 May 1968 (Age 52), Santhehakkalu, Shimoga District, Karnataka, India Nationality: Indian Occupation: Production Designer Years Active: 1992 – Present Awards: Karnataka State Award for Best Production Design (2013, 2017).

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Ravi Santhehakkalu was born in Santhehakkalu, a small village in Shimoga district of Karnataka State, India. He completed his schooling from National High School, Konandur, Shimoga. Due to immense poverty during his growing up years he could not continue with his higher education which forced him to move to Bangalore to earn a livelihood by working in a hotel. Motivation from his elder brother Ananthamurthy gave him the much needed moral support to complete his further education. He started part time job in a video library to fund his studies and the time he spent there opened the window to the world of Cinema.

CAREER

During his struggle to find a foothold in the industry, destiny made him meet Writer Director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar with whom he worked as an assistant for few of his projects like Undu Hoda Kondu Hoda, Baa Nalle Madhuchandrake, America America and Hoomale. Major breakthrough in his career was when he got the opportunity to work as an Assistant under the renowned Art Director Shashidhar Adapa for the movie Kanooru Heggadithi. 2013 Yash starrer movie Googly kick started his journey as an independent Art Director. Since then he is considered as one of the finest Art Director in Kannada Film Industry.
