The Nana-Nani Foundation
The Nana Nani Foundation is a non-governmental, not-for-profit, secular registered public charity trust that operates in Mumbai, India. Its main aim is to promote and aid the enrichment of the lives of the elderly. The organisation creates and manages parks that are especially meant for senior citizens. Currently, the NGO operates three parks in Mumbai - the Nana Nani Park at Girguam Chowpatty, the Aaji Aajoba Udyan at Shivaji Park and the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Udyan at Dadar.
History
The first Nana Nani Park was inaugurated in 1998 by the late ex-culture minister Pramod Navalkar, who, along with founder trustee Mr. Shhyam Singhania.
Activities in the parks
Senior citizens are offered a complimentary cup of tea and newspapers as well as regular medical checkups. The park celebrates various Indian festivals like Diwali, Makar Sakranti, Gudi Padwa and Christmas along with notable dates like World Environment Day and World Laughter Day.
