The International Ban Asbestos Secretariat (IBAS[1]) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) headquarted in the United Kingdom and coordinated by founder Laurie Kazen-Allen. It is an independent organization with two goals: a worldwide ban on asbestos[2] and justice for all asbestos victims. IBAS produces written materials and organizes conferences to raise the profile of asbestos issues. It maintains an active website reporting on international developments in negotiations for health and safety treaties and international obligations relating to asbestos.
Ms. Kazan-Allen is a well-known published author on issues of asbestos and human health problems.[3][4] She is the younger sister of California asbestos litigator, Steven Kazan.
IBAS also works to coordinate the activities of other anti-asbestos NGOs across the world (see List of anti-asbestos organizations).
