Born in Winchester in 1940, he now lives in Saltburn-by-the-Sea. He was educated at a Local Grammar school and attended the University of Nottingham where he obtained a BA with honours in 1966. Later at College in Oxford, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Philadelphia, where he obtained a Master Degree with honours in 1968.
His main interests are Western Philosophy, Christian origins, History and Philosophy of Religions and human psychology. He has worked in a research laboratory and various branches of social work, especially in Probation, the Family Courts and Local Authority social work as a senior social worker and team leader.
His avocational interests include Classical Music and reading, especially non-fiction, including ancient history, philosophy, history of ideas, science, politics, biographies and current affairs. Since retirement he has worked assiduously on a Chronology of the Austrian tenor, conductor, composer, film star and recording artist, Richard Tauber. The latest edition: Richard Tauber: An Illustrated Chronology, was published on-line in September 2022. [1]. His large collection of original Tauber recordings and other memorabilia was donated to the Republic of Austria in February 2019. The collection is now distributed among two National Archives in Vienna.
