Ideology On Vandalism
[edit]Described in one word: stupid.
Why vandalize? What's the point? You already know your IP address is recorded here, and WHOIS "knows where you live". Do you want everyone to know that 123.45.67.890 from Citizensville, England (fake IP address, BTW; don't even think one with that combination is possible) is a real idiot? Get you a billboard and write what you want, not here. (Besides, they get blocked anyway; I don't see the fun in that)
Notable Quotes
[edit]The quotes are arranged in alphabetical order, by the quoter's surname. Anonymous quotes are listed at the bottom of this section.

- "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln
- "The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price". - Vince Lombardi
- "From woman, man is born; within woman, man is conceived; to woman he is engaged and married. Woman becomes his friend; through woman, the future generations come. When his woman dies, he seeks another woman; to woman he is bound. So why call her bad? From her, kings are born. From woman, woman is born; without woman, there would be no one at all." - Guru Nanak
- "Without music life would be a mistake." - Friedrich Nietzsche
- "Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That's what we're doing." - Jimmy Wales

- "To someone you may be the world, but to the world you may be someone." - Anon
- "The Government is like the Leaning Tower of Pisa: it leans but does not fall." - can't remember the quoter's name...

[edit]The Founding Ceremony of the Nation is a 1953 oil painting by Chinese artist Dong Xiwen. It depicts Mao Zedong and other Communist officials inaugurating the People's Republic of China at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on October 1, 1949. A prominent example of socialist realism, it is one of the most celebrated works of official Chinese art. After the Communists took control of China, they sought to memorialize their success with art. Dong was chosen to reproduce the October 1 ceremony in a painting, and completed it in a folk art style, drawing on historical Chinese art. When Mao viewed it and liked it, it was assured of success, and was widely reproduced. After government purges, Dong was ordered to remove Gao Gang in 1954 and Liu Shaoqi in 1967. In 1972 a copy was made by other artists to accommodate another deletion. After the purged officials were rehabilitated, the replica was modified in 1979 to include them. Both canvases are in the National Museum of China in Beijing. (Full article...)
